2019 Elections Update

As we near closer to the annual owners meeting on October 23rd, 2019. We wanted to ensure that everyone had access to the mailers that have been sent out. In the homeowner portal you will find all documentation that was sent in mailers and as always please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

Additionally, we asked all candidates to Board Positions to write a narrative to the community for them to get to know the potential leaders a bit better. These narratives will be read or presented aloud at the Q4 Board Meeting on October 9th, 2019 and all homeowners are encouraged to attend. If you’re unable to attend, you can find their narratives below. Personal contact information (phone numbers, addresses and e-mail addresses) have been removed to protect our homeowners information online and can be provided per a request the Board or Arete.

As your Secretary/Treasurer, I will work together with the new President, Vice President, and HOA property management firm to increase the transparency of the Sandy Ridge meeting notes and financial reports. I am available to serve the four-year term. I believe that the Sandy Ridge homeowners need to be aware of what is happening on a regular basis (consistent and timely communication) and see where their yearly dues are going (quarterly and yearly financial reports).

I moved to Sandy Ridge in June 2014. I chose this community because of the location – close to downtown Spokane, hospitals, library, entertainment, shopping, and a great airport! I have incredible neighbors – we help each other throughout the year. Also having wildlife (deer, turkeys, birds, rabbits, etc.) in our backyards is wonderful!

I lived in Western WA (Snohomish, Seattle, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Lake Stevens, and Everett) for over 40 years. I have been a member of two HOA’s (Lynnwood, WA and Mill Creek, WA). I attended Central Washington University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Management and Organization). I also have a Masters Certificate in Project Management from Stevens Institute of Technology.

I retired from The Boeing Company in 2013. I am a systems thinker and was fortunate to be a member of many organizations (including Engineering, 747/767/777 Airplane Factory and Field production, Customer Services, and Facilities/Maintenance) throughout 33 years of employment. My passion was and still is Lean Thinking and Facilitation (process improvement and the relentless removal of Waste). I was able to work and learn from diverse teams of employees.

I worked at Christopher and Banks (specialty women’s apparel) as a part-time sales associate for 3 years. My main objective was to provide excellent service to customers. And also team with my fellow sales associates and manager.

I currently volunteer twice a week at Vitalant (non-profit community blood services) and once a week at Pasadena Park Elementary as a reading buddy (Spokane County Library). In the past, I volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House.

Fellow Neighbors,

I would like to submit my name for the current Vice President Position that is currently open.

I have lived in Spokane County for the last 60 years and my wife and I have lived in Sandy Ridge since 2014.

I currently work for a utility in Spokane Valley as the Customer Service Director. Among other responsibilities, I am responsible for ground maintenance and streetlight planning and installation.

I have served on a variety of boards and commissions and most recently was the first Mayor of Spokane Valley Washington.  In this position, I learned the value of good communication with my fellow council members, the city staff and the general public.  I also became very familiar with Roberts Rules of Order.

Sincerely,
Michael DeVleming

Greetings!
I’m submitting my name as a candidate for the HOA President position that will soon be vacant.

Unfortunately I’m not able to attend the meeting on the 9th, hopefully this can serve as a letter of introduction.

I’ve lived in Spokane for the last 15 years, and have been a part of the Sandy Ridge HOA for close to two years.

I’ve been  a part of three homeowners associations, one in Spokane, one in Bellingham, Washington, and one in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I’ve been involved in the food and beverage industry for the last 40 years, 18 as an operator, 22 in foodservice distribution.

I have an extensive background in Organizational Development, Learning and Development, Developing high-performing teams, Negotiating, and Purchasing, which I hope will contribute to the success of our HOA.

My passion is always been in helping others achieve their goals, and reaching the stated objectives for the team.

I’m excited for the opportunity to be a part of the team moving forward, and hope to support and improve the development of our community, focusing on transparency and engagement with our homeowners.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
